Lizzy + Ben | Elegant Annesdale Mansion Wedding

We always love shooting at Annesdale, but Lizzy was such a stunning, classically beautiful bride that it was especially great this particular weekend. Lizzy and Ben could not have picked a more perfect place to get married. The style of their wedding complemented Annesdale completely. We are so thankful that we got to be a part of such an amazing wedding!

“I didn’t ever really dream of a wedding when I was little, but I would watch the movies My Best Friend’s Wedding and Father of the Bride on repeat (still do). I just assumed that was what all weddings were like. Our ceremony music and my dance with my dad to ‘Say a Little Prayer’ were chosen because of my obsession with those movies.” – Lizzy

“Ben and I were set up by two of our good friends. I had recently moved back to Memphis and had a plus 1 to another friend’s wedding. I really wasn’t looking forward to attending another wedding solo, so my friend mentions her husband’s good friend Ben is single and that I should take him as my date. So, they asked Ben if he wanted to go with me to this wedding and thankfully he said yes! The rest is history.” – Lizzy

“Ben proposed while we were in Watercolor, FL, for Thanksgiving with my family. That evening we went to the Wine Bar to kill some time before our dinner reservation. For a moment, I thought it was maybe going to happen when my sister voluntarily asked me if I wanted to borrow her clothes for dinner. But I talked myself out of it because I knew it was important to us that both families be there when we got engaged.

After dinner, we decided to go down to the beach for a quick sunset walk before heading back to the house (which was not out of the ordinary because that is something we often do). When Ben wanted to keep walking to get past a crowd of people, I knew IT WAS TIME. Ben got down on one knee, and I cannot remember a word he said. Then, we went back to the house to find Ben’s parents and brother, who had driven all day to be there! The night with both of our families together was so special.” – Lizzy

“It is funny to think back on now, but within the first 10 minutes of taking pictures, I got dirt on the train of my dress. As we continued to take pictures, Ann-Marie and Mackenzie kept me calm and reassured me they would be able to get the stain out. At one point, there were five women in the bathroom holding my dress and veil while Mona was scrubbing away at my dress. Dawn soap for the win!” – Lizzy

“Being surrounded by so many of our closest friends and family is what made our wedding so special. We truly cannot thank everyone enough for all your love and support.” – Lizzy

“A tradition that was important to my dad was for him and I to ride together to the Church separately from the rest of the wedding party. It was a very special moment for us to have alone before he gave me away.” – Lizzy

“I have been to so many weddings that I knew what kind of vibe I wanted. Traditional, elegant, and simple.” – Lizzy

“Ironically, our wedding was the day of the Tennessee vs. Alabama football game (Ben graduated from Bama and I graduated from Tennessee). We are both big football fans, and it was fun incorporating that into custom napkins and a southern tailgate inspired food station.” – Lizzy

“All the vendors were incredible and amazing to work with! Mona Dunlap is a dream. She has amazing taste and is an expert at what she does. She kept us (my mom) sane through the whole planning process and really made the day-of so seamless. I cannot thank her enough for making our wedding everything and beyond what I imagined. Our florist, Deedra Stone, blew me away. With very little guidance and pictures I gave her, she exceeded my vision and expectations. Also, shout out to Cakes by Mom and Me. They literally put my wedding dress on a cake. It was stunning and tasted just as good as it looked! And of course, Taylor Square Photography. Her and Mackenzie were so fun and laid back. I felt at ease all day, and TALK about a HYPE squad! – Lizzy

“The cool, fall weather was the icing on the cake. Having heaters and fire pits made me so happy.” – Lizzy

“My advice to other brides is, find your way to the dance floor early. The night goes by in a blink of an eye!” – Lizzy
