Kate + Andrew | Classically Beautiful Germantown Presbyterian Wedding

I knew the moment I met Kate in that crowded Panera Bread that we would be fast friends. She was on the backend of all her planning and was really, just ready to get married. She was relaxed yet organized, and I knew at that moment we were going to enjoy working with each other on her wedding day. Kate’s calm demeanor was tested on her wedding day, but she and Andrew survived, and at the end of the day, they were married! Read on to hear about their one of a kind wedding day story.

“When I was a little girl, one of my favorite “dress up” outfits was a tiny wedding dress! It was so fun for me to play in. It had long sleeves and was poofy and glittery. I wore it everywhere: grocery store, church, play dates… basically anywhere I could that was allowed. I had quite an imagination and loved to play pretend wedding all the time.” -Kate

“Andrew and I met in Nashville at Nicky’s Coal Fire. We were set up on a blind date to meet for a drink. Well, one drink led to dinner and we ended up shutting down the restaurant! After our first date, our relationship grew quickly and very naturally. Nashville is filled with lots events and things to do so we never ran out of ideas and loved planning dates together. We enjoyed each other’s company and conversation greatly and the rest was history! I knew we were meant for each other and it felt so good!”  -Kate

“Our proposal all started with our friends having their wedding in Spain. We began to make plans to attend and decided to make a stop in Portugal, a place that I’d been wanting to visit for years, specifically the south of Portugal. We made it happen and booked a super cool hotel in the Algarve. Once we arrived, we were in instant vacation mode. Carvoeiro is such a beautiful place with lots of hollowed out caves along the shore. On our first day, we hiked along the coast, relaxed by the pool and found an adorable restaurant for dinner. We made reservations, went back to the hotel, and got ready for dinner.  We had previously researched lots of amazing spots that we wanted to visit. One in particular was the Praie de Marinha beach. We had some time to kill before our dinner reservation so we hopped in our car and headed there. It was definitely the most amazing beach I’d ever been to. It had crystal blue water with giant rocks jetting out of it. Truly breathtaking! The sun was beginning to set and while I was taking way too many pictures, I hear Andrew calling my name from behind me. I turn around and he was on one knee. Andrew asked me to marry him and without hesitation I said “yes!!”. What an exciting moment. My emotions were all over the place but I remember how happy that moment was! Andrew also had hired a photographer secretly and she captured the entire proposal. I was completely blown away! We had the best night ever!” -Kate

“A fun event the day of our wedding- the church had a gas leak! Our church coordinator aired out the entire building and we froze! No one knew what to do! Finally, the church maintenance man called MLGW and found the problem just in time. If we couldn’t find a solution, we either would’ve exploded or had to evacuate the church! Ah!” – Kate

“The church we were married in has a very special place in my heart. I grew up in this church. I was baptized in this church and my grandma Jini Taylor, who is now in heaven, loved this church and the community within it. She was there in spirit for sure!“ -Kate

“Wearing my best friends mom’s veil was very special. I consider them family and I feel very fortunate to have them in my life!” -Kate

“The inspiration behind my wedding was very simple, classic, and clean! I loved the romantic feel with candles, creams and whites, and magnolia. I tried not to get overwhelmed with things and wanted to keep my wedding traditional and timeless.” -Kate

“Hire a wedding planner! It’s so worth it and will save you unnecessary stress. Some things will not go as planned and you’ll be the only one who knows it… let the little things slide! ” -Kate on advice for brides.

Kate and Andrew, thank you so much for sharing your special day with us! We enjoyed getting to know you and your families. You are so blessed to have each other and so many people that love you both. Many blessings for the future!- Ann-Marie
