Memory & Jake | Independent Presbyterian St. Patrick’s Day Texas Flair Wedding

The weather this year in the Mid-South has been nuts.  In my ten years of shooting weddings,I cannot remember a more rainy and cold spring.  Memory and Jake’s St. Patrick’s Day wedding must have brought on the luck of the Irish because the clouds parted and the sun came out to make a beautiful wedding day.

Wedding day preparations were held at Memory’s house.  While the girls were getting ready, Memory had a little fun trying on her grandmother and mother’s wedding dresses.

Memory’s dress was from Maggie Louise Bridal and the bridesmaids attire was from Bella Bridesmaids.

“I really wasn’t one of those girls that dreamed about her wedding…all I knew was that I for sure wanted to get married in my church. Independent Presbyterian Church has played such an important role in my life so I have never imagined getting married anywhere else.” -Memory

I couldn’t help but be smitten with these flower girls.  I always love working with the kiddos at weddings.  They always make the sweetest photos when they are dressed like baby angels.

“We had the best weather!!! The whole week before the wedding the forecast was not looking good…they were projecting rain and chilly temperatures. But Saturday came and it brought the sun and warm weather and it was perfect. This will also sound strange but I was shocked by how fun it was! I had been so focused on the plans and little details that I forgot to think about how it was a party.” -Memory

“The inside of the University Club of Memphis had a more traditional and elegant wedding vibe while the tent had Texas influences. Since Jake is from Austin and we live in Texas now we thought it would be so fun to incorporate Texas into the reception. There were gorgeous succulents and even a longhorn above the bar.”-Memory

No Texas wedding would be complete without a special visit from former Texas Governor and United States Secretary of Energy, Rick Perry and of course, Bevo, the University of Texas mascot created by The Flour Garden Memphis.

Le Fleur knocked it out of the ballpark.  Wedding planner and designer, Mona Dunlap of Mona Dunlap Events, was the key to it all! Also, our band was AMAZING! Al Paris and the Heartbreaker’s were my first request after getting engaged. Al does such an amazing job of getting the party started and keeping it going all night.” -Memory

“It was so special having all of our people in one place celebrating with us. And we loved seeing our mother’s break it down on stage” -Memory

I guess what they say is true, everything is bigger in Texas, or at least it is when it’s in Memphis.  Congrats Memory and Jake.  Thank you for allowing us to share such a super special day with you!  -Ann-Marie
