A Classic, Contemporary Oxford Wedding | Alex and Christopher

Alex and Christopher’s wedding highlighted the best parts of the south: good music, great food and an abundance of lush florals. Better, though, was Christopher’s utter adoration for his bride. Congratulations to these two! – Ann-Marie

“SO many things made our wedding special, but one thing in particular was the wait. Christopher and I were originally getting married on November 7, 2020, but the pandemic had other plans. We made the painful decision to postpone 13 months, and even though it was hard, it was worth waiting every extra minute for.”

“I love classic weddings, but I also love more modern, contemporary weddings! So I wanted the elegance of a classic wedding with a touch of the fun and excitement from a contemporary wedding. I think my wedding dress is a great example of what I mean: very classic, timeless satin look, but there was a hidden, high leg slit that brought a contemporary look to it.”

“The proposal was amazing! We were driving down to my family’s hunting camp, which we call The Point for what I thought was just a normal thanksgiving trip. The Point is in Belzoni, MS and is one of our favorite places on earth. My family told me we were going to be taking photos for Christmas cards, so to come looking nice. I was very annoyed by this because it was raining, and I didn’t want to be dressed up in a long car ride. I was even more annoyed when we pulled up and I didn’t see any of my family’s cars for this supposed photo! But once we got out of the car, we turned the corner, and I quickly realized what was happening. He asked me to marry him and I said yes!”

“Just as my last bit of energy was leaving me, I hear a bunch of laughter, and I turned around to see one of my bridesmaids, Sarah, had hijacked a cherry picker and was riding it around the venue in her full dress and fur! It immediately made me laugh and brought my spirits back up, and stayed that way until I walked down the aisle!”

“I have always loved flowers, and I really wanted the florals to be a showstopper, and boy, were they! The Garden District really brought my vision to life, and then some!”

“I met Christopher my freshman year, and had a crush on him from the get go. It wasn’t until my sophomore year that he noticed me, and once we got in trouble for talking (aka flirting) during lecture. Oops! After a few months, he finally asked me to go to a baseball game with him.”
