Hallie and John have been part of our wedding crew for so long so we were really excited that it was finally their turn! Their reception at the Memphis Hunt and Polo Club was a celebration to remember.

It was so amazing working with all of your friends and families. We hope that you guys cherish these photos forever.

“Ever since I was a little girl, I have dreamed and prayed for my future husband. I have always fantasized about our life together, our kids together, and our special day. My wedding day was more than I dreamed, and I can honestly say that it was the closest thing to perfect I have ever experienced. I got to marry the man I have spent my life praying for, and we got to celebrate with the people who are closest to our hearts. I will have nothing but amazing memories from 8.14.2021.” – Hallie

“In August of 2019, John and I met through our mutual friends Edward and Anne Carter Lake. John was going to Pickwick for a golf tournament with his life-long best friend, Edward Lake, and a couple of their other friends. That same weekend, I was going to the lake with Edward’s sister and my life-long best friend, Anne Carter Lake. We all hung out on the lake that weekend, and the rest was history! It was totally meant to be, and Anne Carter and Edward were both in our wedding!” – Hallie

“John and I actually had no idea who each other were when we crossed paths in August 2019. However, we quickly came to find out that both our families and our friends were (and still are) tightly connected. A few of these connections being that my grandmother was John’s preschool principal and teacher, John’s mother taught at my grandmother’s preschool, both of us consider the Lake’s our ‘second family’, our grandparents and parents are old friends, and the list goes on! We laugh about this and love this because it shows us how perfect God’s plan is. God’s timing could not have been more perfect for John and I, and we thank Him every day for this!” – Hallie

“The week after John and I met at pickwick, John asked me to go on our first date on Mud Island. After that date, we never looked back! When you know, you know.” – Hallie

“John proposed to me the day before Christmas Eve in 2020. I had a feeling he was going to ask around the holidays, because he and I were ready to marry each other just six months after dating. He took me to dinner at Memphis Country Club, one of our regular date spots, because he was ‘needing to reach his minimum’. Walking into the foyer, he got down on one knee in front of the Christmas tree, and I could not have said yes fast enough! We had dinner alone together, and then, we went to my Mom’s house where both of our families and friends were waiting to celebrate us! Some of my best friends had flown in to surprise me. It was truly such a special night, and aside from my wedding day, the day of my engagement was and will always be one of my favorite days.” – Hallie

“One ‘tradition’ that John and I were excited to include was not seeing one another until I walked down the aisle. We feel that this made our ceremony feel incredibly special and intimate, and we are so glad that we incorporated this into our special day.” – Hallie

“Another tradition that I included in my wedding day was using my great-grandfather’s handkerchief around my wedding bouquet. This handkerchief has his name on it and went with my great-grandfather wherever he went. When my mother got married, her grandfather (and my great-grandfather) had passed away, so in memory of him, she used it around her wedding bouquet. By doing this, she felt that he was close to her and with her on her special day. Because my great-grandfather played such a large impact on my mother’s life, I wanted to incorporate and start this tradition with his special handkerchief.” – Hallie

“Friendships are something that John and I have always prioritized and cherished. I have always been in constant awe of my friends and my family and how they love me so well. However, on my wedding day, I have never felt more loved and supported by my friends and family. I feel ten times closer to my bridesmaids, my family, and my spouse, and that is something I am forever thankful for.” – Hallie

Deedra Stone made my wedding absolutely beautiful. She knew exactly what my vision was for my flowers, and she made that vision a beautiful reality. I was in awe of her work and always will be.” – Hallie

“I knew I wanted my wedding to be elegant, simple, but southern and beautiful. My wedding truly blew me away and turned out to be just that.” – Hallie

“Because I did not have a wedding planner for my wedding, everything was very intentionally picked out and planned by both my mom and me. My wonderful mother selflessly assumed the role as my ‘planner’, and she did an incredible job. From the time John and I got engaged until the day of our wedding, my mom and I spent countless hours planning for the big day. It was not easy by any means, but it was extremely rewarding. I was constantly in awe to see everything that my mother was sacrificing for me, and I can confidently say that this experience brought us immensely closer. On my wedding day, we got to see everything unfold. This day felt almost effortless, elegant, and extremely special, and there is not a thing I would change!” – Hallie

The Mustache Band has always been both John and I’s favorite bands ever since college. Not to mention, John’s cousin is the drummer! Because of this, it was only fitting that they played at our wedding. They are not the traditional wedding band you might see at most weddings… they play 90’s country music, have mullets, and wear life jackets. This made for a wedding reception that almost everyone could sing and dance – making it that much more fun and perfect for John and me. We did not leave the dance floor the whole night, and that is just how we wanted it!” – Hallie

“The best advice I received as a bride was to be present at all times and to constantly remind myself of the reason for such a wonderful celebration. I can honestly say that I took this advice, and I believe that this is the reason that my wedding day was the most joyful, relaxing, and special day of my life.” – Hallie

“I have four pieces of advice for future brides:

  1. Remember the reason: The parties, the planning, and the celebrations are so special and fun, and they are memories you will always cherish. With this being said, take the time to remind yourself of the reason for these celebrations… a marriage!
  2. Soak it all in: Allow yourself to relax and enjoy your wedding day. It is exactly what you make it!
  3. Don’t obsess over the details: In the grand scheme of things, the details that you think are important, do not matter! Not every detail will flow exactly how you wanted it to, but trust the process because your wedding will end up being exactly what you wanted – whether you knew it or not.
  4. Whatever happens, good or bad, Thank God! It happened for a reason!” – Hallie

“When the reception was over, John and I made our way to the getaway car. Our getaway car was a red mustang, so naturally, John and I sat on top of the back seats. We waved goodbye to everyone, and before we could even consider moving into the seats of the convertible, the car driver put the pedal to the medal – sending John flying backwards, his legs flying upwards, and almost falling out. Everyone (including me) screamed and laughed. It was, and still is, hilarious, and the best way to end the most fun and perfect night.” – Hallie
