We loved being a part of Jackie and Carter’s special day! The love that the two of them share was so evident to everyone there. The event was coordinated by Claire Kiamie with One Fine Day Events who worked her magic and made the day nothing short of a modern-day fairy tale.
“A tradition that we stuck with for the wedding day was something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. My something old was my earrings. My Nana wore the same earrings on her wedding day. My something new was my FABULOUS hair piece that went perfectly with my dress. My something borrowed was my gold/pearl bracelet from my Mom. My something blue was my Nana’s navy blue rosary. I had it attached to my bouquet as I went down the aisle. I decided on each piece with my Mom! Each piece was very special to both of us.” -Jackie
“I always dreamed of my wedding day. I always watched wedding movies and Say Yes to the Dress. I never thought of any specific details, I just wanted a day full of love and laughter.” -Jackie
“Carter and I first met when he picked me up with some friends after a swap right after bid day. We became friends and then both ended up on the executive counsels over the sororities and fraternities at Ole Miss. We found that we had so much in common and we started dating in December 2013!” -Jackie
“My inspiration for the wedding was keeping things simple! My Mom and I also drew inspiration on things that my Nana loved! Her favorite flower was the calla lily! That was the inspiration for my bouquet. I know that she was by my side all weekend long.” -Jackie
“The proposal happened during Double Decker weekend in Oxford! We always walked through campus and made our way to the square due to the lack of parking around the square. 2017 was a little different and we stopped by Paris-Yates and the Phi Mu fountain where Carter got down on one knee. It was a beautiful day full of surprises.” -Jackie
“The best advice that I received was don’t sweat the small stuff…now lots of small/large stuff happened, but I knew that all of my family and friends were there and I was going to enjoy the day because I got to marry the love of my life! Focus on things that only you can control, the rest will absolutely fall into place.” -Jackie
“One of the most special things about our wedding coincides with the wedding date. I lost my father when I was 10 years old, and February 23rd was also the day that my parents got married. I wanted to honor my father by sharing his wedding date with him. I love and miss him everyday, and I was so happy when Jackie suggested that we pick 2/23 as our wedding date.” -Carter
“Jackie and I are just so thankful that we finally made to this day through all the things that we’ve been through together. Being in medical school was hard for me, but I know it was especially hard for her as there would be many days that we would barely talk or text because of me being on clinicals or studying for exams and boards. And we both stuck together and persevered through her cancer diagnosis during my third year of school when she had to move back home to Atlanta with her parents. That was one of the hardest times in my entire life, and I can’t even imagine what was going through her mind during that strenuous time. I love for each other and for the Lord was strengthened during that time even though there were moments when we felt very weak and fragile. I know that through all of these past events that Jackie and I can stand steadfast through any storm or obstacle, and I love her more each and every day.” -Carter
“Claire and her team at One Fine Day were amazing! The weekend of the wedding was a busy one in Oxford, but I was able to be calm and enjoy the events because of Claire! Thanks to Lisa and Christian from Frameblender Films for creating a beautiful wedding film. The day goes by so fast and I am so blessed to have something to always watch and remember the whole weekend with.
Ann-Marie! She took pictures that I had saved from Instagram of other wedding day events that I kept in the back of my head while planning and Ann-Marie made those same memories for me with my best friends and family. We will treasure our pictures forever.” -Jackie
