Jake approached us at another wedding in 2019 and asked for one of our business cards, so we knew an engagement was coming soon for these two. After overcoming the hurdles of COVID, they were finally able to have their sweet wedding. I don’t know about you, but I think it was worth the wait! This couple is absolutely precious. Becca and Jake, thank you for allowing us to be a part of your big day!

“We met on a blind date for Sigma Chi’s date party. Jake asked what I wanted to drink for the night before I got to the Sigma Chi house. I told him, ‘champagne please.’ We both laughed when I got there and realized he had bought Andre. He knew right then he had some learning to do ;). We had the best night though and attended every date party together for the remainder of the year. The rest was history!” – Becca
“I made Becca believe that we were traveling to Oxford that weekend to celebrate her Godmother’s 50th birthday (she was actually turning 49… 50 just sounded better). We woke up the morning of the proposal and Becca thought the entire time that we were going to meet her Godmother and her family for lunch, but little did she know that I was going to propose to her. We got in the car to go to ‘lunch’ and I told her I wanted to stop by the Grove because I haven’t seen it in a while. We parked the car and started walking across the Grove and… BAM. It was electric – pure euphoria. It was just so special to have it in Oxford and get to celebrate afterwards with all my friends and family.” – Jake
“My bridesmaids and I got ready at my parents’ house. This was so special to me because it was the home where I grew up in and shared so many memories with my sisters and friends in that house.” – Becca
“This has been such a weird and hard year for everyone. We pushed our original wedding date back almost a whole year, so Jake and I truly were so thankful we were able to spend our most special day with all of the people we love and adore. It truly put everything into perspective for the two of us and we realized the important things like having our grandparents fully vaccinated and being able to celebrate with us. We didn’t get caught up in the little things for wedding planning that never end up actually mattering in the grand scheme of things. It was SO worth the wait!” – Becca
“Thankfully, I have a mom that really is amazing at everything. She knows what I like even more than I think I know myself. I love anything that my mom picks out, from my entire wardrobe to decorations, etc. She and our wedding coordinator, Amanda Cottingham, took my vision and truly brought it to life more than I could have ever imagined! My favorite color is blue and my favorite flowers are blue hydrangeas, they used both of those things and so much more and made my wedding day truly magical! Having butterflies on my cake was the most special surprise and truly the ‘icing on top of the cake.’” – Becca
“The best advice that I received as a bride was to truly try to soak in every moment and be present because it only comes once in your life and it goes by so fast.” – Becca
“I can’t say enough good things about Amanda Cottingham. Not only is she the cutest person alive, but she truly brought mine and my mom’s vision to life! She is such a joy to work with and I never had to worry even for a second about anything. I gave her a couple of pictures that I loved and she just let her imagination run and planned the most beautiful reception. I love her and all of her work and we are so thankful she could help plan our day!
We also can’t brag enough on Taylor Square Photography. You guys dealt with shooting our 30 person wedding party and I know that wasn’t easy. THANK YOU!” – Becca
“I wore my sister’s wedding veil that she wore on her wedding day so that was very special to me!” – Becca
“If I could give any advice to any other brides it would be that it is truly the one time in your life that all generations, young and old, that you love and adore are all in the same room with you at the same time. Enjoy every moment of that! It is the best and most special day of your life.” – Becca
“I was just as surprised as everyone else walking into the reception. I just wasn’t one of those brides who was super into the planning. I told my parents, ‘I want an amazing band and for everyone to have the time of their life.’ I’d say they nailed it!” – Becca
“I think every little girl dreams of their wedding when they grow up, but I grew up watching Father of the Bride with my dad and pictured my wedding being a lot like that movie, which was the inspiration behind dancing to ‘My Girl’ with my Dad.” – Becca
“I loved being able to dance with not only my dad, but both of my grandfathers. This moment meant the world to me and something I will never forget!” – Becca
“Jake’s grandfather who recently passed was the biggest Cubs fan you ever met. He’s been a season ticket holder since the 1980’s, which was the inspiration behind Jake’s grooms cake and the cubs hats we passed out at the wedding.” – Becca
