A Wedding Reception for the Ages at the Bride’s Childhood Home | Wallace and Tapper

This wedding was my last one after a 12 week run, and the second wedding I’ve shot for the Cowart family this year. It was a great one to wrap up the craziness of fall. The reception was immaculate, and one of my favorite color palettes I’ve seen in a wedding yet. I hope that you all enjoy this preview!

“Tapper and I both attended Ole Miss. We had mutual friends and always knew who each other were but didn’t start going out until junior year when I asked him to a Tri Delt date party. We then went back and forth to date parties together and began dating shortly after.” – Wallace

“So, we had my family Christmas party in Baton Rouge into the late hours. Little did Wallace know the whole family planned to drive up to Memphis behind us the next day to be there for our proposal night. We had fake plans to grab a nice dinner at Folks Folly. We all got dressed up and I brought Wallace to look at something on the Christmas tree and asked her then. Both families then came into the room and it really was awesome.” – Tapper

“I wore my oldest sister’s veil which was also worn by my middle sister. I also wore my mother’s pearl ring that was passed down to her through generations. Tapper and I drank out of my grandmother’s silver goblets at the reception, as well as his grandmother’s goblet at the rehearsal dinner. The family traditions we included really made the weekend so special!” – Wallace

“The best advice I received as a bride was to soak in every moment. All of your favorite people are coming together to celebrate you which is a rare occasion!” – Wallace

“Tapper wanted to surprise me with the engraving he chose for his wedding ring. I thought it was sweet he wanted to do it on his own and let him be with this task. Already picturing what it might say, sweet things like… ‘Forever Wally,’ ‘Always, Wally’ ‘Tapper & Wallace,’ etc. After we exchanged rings during the ceremony, I asked him what his ring said. He gave it to me and it read ‘Bro. 10.30.21.’ I laughed out loud as I totally wasn’t expecting that. Bro is a silly nickname I’ve taken on since childhood that somehow stuck. Tapper loves screaming ‘Bro!’ in public to embarrass me. But I totally wasn’t expecting him to engrave his wedding ring with this!” – Wallace

“We chose to have our reception at my parent’s house, which was so special. I have lived there since I was 4, so my only memories are at that house. What also made the weekend so special was how close both Tapper and I have become to each other’s families. Family was a theme throughout the weekend without being planned. It was mentioned in our ceremony sermon, rehearsal dinner video, speeches, and you could feel the closeness of the families all weekend long. It was so special to go through this time with our two precious families who mean everything to us and helped get us to this point!” – Wallace

“My middle sister, Cary, got married at my parent’s house in November of 2020. After her wedding, I thought no way could I get married anywhere else but here! It turned out so beautiful that I wanted the same experience. Mona Dunlap and Greg Campell worked together on my sister’s wedding, and it was amazing to see how different they could make the layout, decorations, and flowers at the same venue. They make such a great team and helped execute and improve the vision my mom and I had for the special night.” – Wallace

“When we initially began setting our wedding date, Halloween became one of the top options and to be honest I was not totally on board at first. I didn’t want a ‘Halloween’ wedding. However, this date worked for the majority of our family members, friends, and vendors, so I knew this was our date! After only a few weeks of planning, I slowly learned I actually did want a Halloween wedding after all! A sheek, modern, sophisticated Halloween wedding would be so unique, unforgettable, and most importantly, FUN! My mom and I ordered every black Halloween party prop you can imagine from all over the internet for our festive touch. CFY Catering also presented our Love Potion No. 9 entry drinks as well as our ice cream station with liquid nitrogen to give off the spooky smoke appearance. It was a production! Infinity Show Band performed ‘Ghostbusters’ and ‘Thriller’ to get the crowd in Halloween party mode as my nephews and niece joined the dancefloor in their ghostbusters costumes. Tapper’s last name is Patrick, so we couldn’t resist making our hashtag #PaTRICKorTREAT and giving trick-or-treat goody bags to our hotel guests.” – Wallace

“Another favorite part about our wedding was the custom hats we ordered from FoamParty. These foam hats represented Tapper and my favorite things (Baskin Robbins mint ice cream, Reece’s Cups, ribeyes, spaghetti & meatballs, Coca-Cola, Louisiana Crawfish, Superior margaritas, LSU Tigers, Ole Miss, etc.). Who doesn’t want a big funny hat on their head on the dance floor after a few cocktails? Even the grandparents partook!” – Wallace

“The best advice I have for future brides is to not get caught up on the little details. Your team will make sure it all comes together perfectly so just have fun!” – Wallace
