Taylor and William were married on April 8th, with a ceremony at the Christ United Methodist Church in Memphis and a reception at the groom’s family’s private home.
My second shooter, Sophie Clay, and I started out the day capturing the details as Taylor and William got ready. I was able to get a picture of Taylor’s dress alongside William’s mother’s dress and veil, which are framed and hanging in her bedroom. Taylor also wore William’s mother’s diamond earrings and her wedding day shoes. William’s grandparents once owned the Oxford Floral company and his grandfather lovingly designed and hand-tied Taylor’s bouquet, just as he had done for so many women who have been married over the years. All those beautiful details were simply a stunning way to welcome Taylor into the family, and I loved every one of them.
Taylor’s mother and sisters helped her into her beautiful dress before we staged a first look with her father, which ended up being one of my favorite images of the whole day. The look on his face was so pure and overwhelmed with emotion.
But, hands down, my favorite part of the day was when we staged the first look between Taylor and William. I asked them to stand back to back and read aloud some letters that they had written to each other before they turned around. They were a mess. I was a mess. The videographer was a mess. And they hadn’t even seen each other yet!
I told William and Taylor that, as a wedding photographer, I had seen many first looks, but theirs had me a little ferklempt. I needed a moment to gather myself—especially after William gave Taylor a diamond bracelet of his mother’s in an incredibly emotional moment.
The wedding celebration itself was held on William’s family farm, which was also where he proposed. The amazing florals provided by Oxford Floral Company helped to complete the romantic look and feel of the day. It was the details and love that went into things like this that truly made this wedding shine and pulled at all the right heartstrings.
Thank you, Taylor and William, for allowing me to share such a precious day with you. You are incredibly blessed not only to have each other but to have amazing and supportive families and friends.
