Ethereal Romance Unified Forever in Downtown Jackson Cathedral

Lil and David are so special to our company because they have been guests and members of so many weddings we have shot over the last few years; it was such a treat to finally get to work with them as husband and wife! We shot the majority of the portraits at Lil’s childhood home and then ventured to the church where Lil was baptized years ago. It was such a special day with many nostalgic traditions.

Lil and David, thank you so much for trusting us to capture this special day! You guys are close to our hearts!

“Getting ready and taking pictures at my parents’ house was very special to me. I’ve lived in that house my whole life and it’s probably my favorite place in the world. I loved having all of mine and David’s closest friends and family there. I think it started out the day in the most relaxing and fun way. Also, getting married at Saint Andrews Cathedral was special to me because I was baptized there as a baby.” – Lil

“My veil has been worn by my mom, sister, cousins and aunt. It’s actually made from a lace table cloth that was purchased in Brussels, Belgium by my mom’s cousin. We were also able to use my grandmother’s silver goblet and cake knife at the reception.” – Lil

“David and I met through mutual friends on the Square our freshman year at Ole Miss. We didn’t keep in touch until our sophomore year when we saw each other again at the Chi O/Sigma Chi swap. We have a few pictures together from that night at the swap that make me laugh because we look like best friends but we basically didn’t know each other at all.” – Lil

“I asked David to ChiO formal in the fall of our sophomore year. His response was ‘Yes! And do you want to go to Sigma Chi date party with me tomorrow night?’ After those two events we kept going to formals and date parties together and hanging out in between. I asked David to be my date to my debutante ball in Greenwood in December. After that weekend, David asked me to go on our first dinner date to the local El Cazedores in Jackson- we’re pretty fancy. After a few failed attempts and his roommates threatening to lock him out of their apartment if he didn’t, David finally got the nerve to ask me to officially be his girlfriend in April.” – Lil

“It was my birthday weekend, and on that Saturday morning I asked David what we were going to do that day. He asked if I wanted to take my dog, Kitty, on a walk for my birthday (which was exciting because that’s not usually one of David’s preferred activities). I kinda had a feeling a proposal could possibly happen but I had no clue where David would do it on a walk. There is a pretty lot on a lake in my neighborhood that I used to take Kitty to almost daily to play fetch to burn her energy. We were getting ready to go on the walk and David asked if we could go to that lot and throw a ball to her. That’s when I really knew something was up. David has always said he wanted the proposal to be a huge surprise that comes out of no where. I knew he wouldn’t have like a table set up or anything. So when we got to the field I was wondering if I was just crazy or is he actually about to propose. Eventually, I got a little ahead of David and I turned around and he was on one knee. My two best friends, Catherine and Caroline, were hiding in the bushes taking pictures and came out with champagne. My sister had made a flower collar for Kitty to wear in the pictures that I’m obsessed with. She made another for her to wear on wedding day. After the proposal, we went to my parents’ house where family and friends were waiting to celebrate! It was the best birthday weekend.” – Lil

“I was actually surprised by how relaxed I felt throughout the entire weekend. If anything went wrong, I didn’t know about it. Everything was perfect to me! I was also surprised about how amazing the weather turned out. I was pretty nervous going into it that it would be unbearably hot, like it usually is in early September in Mississippi, because we were planning to take so many pictures outside. But I think the weather was perfect.” – Lil

“Sometimes the wedding planning got a little stressful, just trying to juggle working, planning, and all that entails but I just encourage future brides to try to enjoy it because it’s such a special time. Looking back, even though it was exhausting at times, the engagement season included so many special memories. So my advice would be to not let yourself get too caught up in the planning and enjoy the whole season.” – Lil

“I’m not a huge planner, but luckily Wendy and Julia Putt with Fresh Cut are amazing at what they do and took the few pictures I had saved from Instagram that I liked and ran with those ideas! I loved the idea of using boxwood at the reception and Wendy and Julia did such a wonderful job!” – Lil

“We had great experiences with all of our vendors throughout the process! Crisler Boone was such a fabulous coordinator who helped me feel at ease and prepared for everything. She went above and beyond in the most graceful way and was so much fun to work with! Taylor Square Photography, of course! Ever since some of my friends have had Ann-Marie as their wedding photographer over the years I have always hoped I could too! Ann-Marie made the picture taking fun and I know we will cherish the photos forever. Also, Wendy and Julia with Fresh Cut in Jackson are just so good at what they do! Each time my mom and I would go and meet with them we always left saying ‘That was so fun!’ They were so kind throughout the process and put so much into making sure the flowers and decor were unique and beautiful. I loved the way it turned out so much, I’m so thankful for them! And lastly, I think Maggie Louise is the best place in the world to get a wedding dress. They were so sweet and I love their dress selection process.” – Lil
